Moto2 rider arrives at race with no pants after luggage goes missing on flight

British rider Sam Lowes arrived at this weekend's Moto2 race with no pants after his luggage went missing en route to Argentina.

The series got underway last weekend in Portugal when Lowes finished seventh. He then faced an epic 50-hour journey to this weekend's second round in Argentina.

And the 32-year-old ELF Marc VDS Racing Team rider revealed he was on his way to Termas de Río Hondo without some key items of clothing after his luggage was lost in transit – specifically a spare pair of pants.

The British rider tweeted about his travel woes stating: "47 hours and still going!! At least I'm in the correct country now!! Sometimes happens like this with travelling!! Fly today down to the track! No luggage though need to find some pants!!!"

Fans were quick to assure Lowes that having no spare pants isn't a problem offering him hilarious solutions to the issue. One fan said: "Inside out & back to front. At least 4 days worth. Best of luck mate. Fully pinned."

Another fan added: "Turn them inside out and call them your lucky ones. Have strong weekend Sam." One fan suggested going without pants completely might improve the Brits performance on the track. They told him: "Go commando Sam ! Less weight faster lap time surely."

Lowes later posted a picture on Instagram, completing a course walk with his team ahead of the race weekend. He said: "MADE IT! Had a walk around track! Ready to spin some laps tomorrow! #22 #onit 50 hours on the go! no complaining it’s always an adventure."

Moto GP riders are facing a lot of travelling this year with an increased 21-race calendar with 10 of the rounds outside of Europe. Competitors face trips to America, Kazakhstan, India, Japan, Indonesia, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia and Qatar before the season is out.

Fans were quick to sympathise with the Moto GP2 rider about his woes traveling to Argentina, with one adding: "The stress of back-to-back rounds at the other side of the world to each other would drive me mad. #FindSamSomePants."

While another also questioned the gruelling travel riders faced. They added: "Makes absolutely zero sense to do Argentina the weekend after Portugal."
