Toto Wolff challenged to Las Vegas boxing match by fellow F1 team principal

In a world of crossover sports, could Mercedes chief Toto 'The Terminator' Wolff be about to don boxing gloves in Las Vegas?

It sounds like madness, but the proposition has been put on the table by a rival F1 boss. And conveniently, 'Sin City' will host its maiden Grand Prix race in November, so the Austrian will only be stone throw from the T-Mobile Arena which has hosted the likes of Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.

Wolff is currently reeling from his team's difficult start to the year, despite Lewis Hamilton's second placed finish in the chaotic Australian Grand Prix last Sunday. The Silver Arrows are currently way off front runners Red Bull in terms of pace, with their rivals having won all three races thus far.

McLaren have also been struggling, although CEO Zak Brown had some welcome relief down under with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri both finishing in the points. But that hasn't stopped the American calling out his rivals, albeit in a different field.

"We were talking about racing Christian (Horner) in Silverstone, because I used to race against Christian," he told Sky Sports. "And I've talked to Toto about it, we'll see if he's up for it. When we go Vegas, what's Vegas known for? [A] Little boxing match? I'm ready."

The Sky crew lapped up the suggestion, even adding some WWE style nicknames to the proposed bout. Wolff was dubbed 'The Terminator' like compatriot Arnold Schwarzenegger, with his opponent given the title of 'Slugger Brown'.

As far-fetched as the idea sounds, anything seems possible within the sport these days with the growing notion of celebrity bouts and YouTube boxers. And cynics may suggest there is more chance of the clash being made than a much waited unification bout between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

Ironically, it's not the only challenge Wolff, 51, has received of late. Hamilton recently joked he would "get in the ring" with the Team Principle over negotiations for a new contract.

Wolff's immediate priority of course, will be getting Hamilton and George Russell fighting for wins on the track. A title tilt for either already looks out of question after just three races, with the boss himself told by critics he must take responsibility for his team getting their car set-up wrong.
