Sergio Perez’s dad outlines ambitious retirement plan for F1 future

Sergio Perez’s dad has laid out an ambitious retirement plan for the Mexican, claiming he could remain in F1 for at least another 10 years. Perez’s current Red Bull deal expires next season with no assurances yet given this will be renewed.

The 33-year-old faces fierce opposition with Daniel Ricciardo eyeing a race return and Yuki Tsunoda tipped for a promotion. Perez’s father, Antonio Perez Garibay, told MARCA: “Checo is doing his job excellently and will be in F1 for the next 10 years.

“After everything lost to what was found, we have a blessing as Checo didn’t have a job two years ago before this new stage was opened by Red Bull. Checo is in the eyes of the world, today he is one of the great ambassadors of any brand worldwide.

“This is thanks to the support of Red Bull. What he did before were great achievements but nothing compared to the support of Red Bull, being in the best team in the world puts you in the eyes of the world.” Perez would be 43 in a decade making him only slightly older than 41-year-old Fernando Alonso is now.

He told Sport Bild: “I still have a contract until 2024 but I can’t imagine I will end my career then. I’m too young for that and still having too much fun. Even if the sport takes up a lot of time. But that’s how it is. Formula One will be your life. And you can’t just leave that behind.”

“The best moments of my life have nothing to do with racing. For example, the birth of my children. But even the simple things mean a lot to me. If I can get a taco in Mexico for 20 pesos and spend time with my family, these are moments you don’t experience in Formula One.”
