Mercedes and Red Bull spark war of words as explosive F1 row erupts

Red Bull will be hoping to celebrate their home race with their ninth consecutive victory of the season this weekend at the Austrian Grand Prix. It’s been pure dominance from Red Bull so far in 2023 with their rivals left playing catch up.

Mercedes and Aston Martin have shown good progress in recent weeks, but Max Verstappen has been in a league of his own of late. The two-time world champion has won the last four races, but team-mate Sergio Perez has struggled to find the same results in his Red Bull.

Pressure is on the Mexican to get back on the podium this weekend having failed to get into Q3 in the last three qualifying sessions. Red Bull chief Helmut Marko has hinted that the team will ‘evaluate’ Daniel Ricciardo when he takes to the track as part of a Pirelli tyre test after the British Grand Prix.

There’s been some suggestion Ricciardo could be given a chance with AlphaTauri, who have just received huge investment from Hollywood actors Rob McElhenney, Ryan Reynolds and Michael B. Jordan. Stay tuned as Express Sport provides live updates throughout the day from the world of F1.
