Lewis Hamilton’s future ‘could be in Hollywood’ after ‘Toto Wolff’s behaviour’

Lewis Hamilton's future "could be in Hollywood" following the Formula One 2021 finale fiasco involving Toto Wolff, it has been claimed.

The seven-time world champion may not return to the grid this year after narrowly missing out on his eighth crown in controversial circumstances to Max Verstappen.

Hamilton has been deathly quiet since that incident last month amid rumours he could walk away.

There have also been reports that he could feature in an F1 movie alongside Brad Pitt.

After all, the Brit has firmly established himself into the American celebrity culture over the last decade – and fellow former champ Jacques Villeneuve believes he's staying quiet for that reason.

The Canadian told Italian paper Gazzetta dello Sport: "I interpret Hamilton’s silence as him wanting to put some distance between himself and Toto Wolff.

"You can lose with style, whereas Toto behaved like someone who is playing Monopoly. The moment he is losing, he throws the whole board into the air.

"In doing so, Wolff suffered a lot of image damage, in my opinion.

"Hamilton is sensitive to that because he is thinking about his future in America, maybe even in Hollywood."

Hamilton has already explored several different career ventures outside of sport, in particular having a passion for music.

As well as recording his own hits, he featured on Christina Aguilera's 2018 song "Pipe" under the pseudonym XNDA, something which didn't become public knowledge until two years later.

He also has his own clothing line, TOMMYXLEWIS, with fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger.

Despite his commercial success, Villeneuve does believe Hamilton's return is dependant on Mercedes' chances of triumph in 2022.

He added: "It depends on the car that Mercedes will give Hamilton, whether he can win easily with it or not.

"Lewis is also a bit more tired, he has had easy seasons after Nico Rosberg’s departure and he really won’t want to have another year like he experienced last season.

"He thought he could easily bring in the record eighth title and that didn’t happen.

"It’s like a diamond that you have in your hands and then suddenly it’s taken out of your hands.

"In this way it hurt much more than if Verstappen would have simply led the whole race."
