Lewis Hamilton has been warned his records will be broken one day as Michael Schumacher’s were after the Brit claimed his 100th F1 win. Hamilton reached the landmark at the Sochi Autodrom last time out.
The seven-time world champion putted at just the right time when it began to rain in the race’s latter stages.
McLaren’s Lando Norris was hunting his maiden win and comfortably leading when he decided to stay out, a decision which proved to be ill-advised.
Norris slid off the track, allowing Hamilton to pass and claim the win to move clear of Max Verstappen at the top of the Drivers’ Championship.
After the Brit – who has the most pole positions and race wins in Formula 1 history – claimed the unprecedented win, he was showered with praise regarding his accomplishment.

It appears unlikely that any driver in the foreseeable future will be able to match Hamilton’s records, but F1 president Stefano Domenicali believes someone will surpass the 36-year-old in the future.
He believes his claim is supported by Formula 1’s history.
“We thought that Schumacher’s records could not be broken, but Hamilton managed to do it,” Domenicali told Sky Sports.
“That’s why I think Hamilton’s record number of wins will also be broken one day.

Hamilton is looking to move clear of Schumacher on seven world championships as the Mercedes man is locked in an entertaining title battle with Verstappen.
The Brit holds a slender two-point lead over the Dutchman with seven Grands Prix to go, including this weekend’s race in Istanbul.
Domenicali has been in the news recently, after he announced changes to the traditional weekend schedule of the Monaco Grand Prix for future events.
The four-day format became a key part of Monaco’s glitzy reputation within the sport, as parties were famously held on boats in the iconic Port Hercules.

Parties were held on Thursday nights, allowing for guests to recover or attend other such events before racing returned on the weekend, with final practice followed by qualifying on the Saturday.
However, the Monte Carlo race will now follow the same format as the rest of the calendar from 2022 in order to allow for flexibility in terms of moving dates and events.
Domenicali also added that the 2022 calendar would be announced at a meeting of the FIA world motorsport council on October 15.
Formula 1 returns to Istanbul for the Turkish Grand Prix on October 10.
