Lewis Hamilton can extend his incredible record of most wins at different circuits if he wins the Qatar Grand Prix on Sunday. Hamilton is hoping to defeat Red Bull star Max Verstappen to close the gap at the top of the Drivers’ Championship.

If the Brit is able to defeat the Dutchman and take the chequered flag on Sunday, he would add to his record of most Grand Prix wins on different tracks ahead of the inaugural race in Qatar.

It would be the 30th different circuit Hamilton has claimed victory at.

The 36-year-old has won at 29 different tracks across his 15-year career.

Hamilton is hoping to win a record eighth world title this season as he is currently tied with F1 icon Michael Schumacher on seven.

The German is the next closest driver with the most wins at different tracks, tallying 22 victories around the world – so Hamilton can move eight clear in this particular record.

Of active drivers, Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel has 21 wins at different tracks, while two-time world champion Fernando Alonso has 17.

Hamilton’s title rival Verstappen has 16 – but at 24 years of age, the Dutchman has time on his side.

The Brit has won at a record 29 of 34 different circuits he has raced at.

The Buddh International Circuit, the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, Circuit Zandvoort, the Korea International Circuit and the Valencia Street Circuit are the five race tracks where Hamilton has not achieved a Grand Prix victory at.

All of Hamilton’s record 101 Grands Prix wins have come in cars powered by a Mercedes engine, as he raced at McLaren before switching to the Silver Arrows

He claimed 21 victories racing for McLaren while 80 have at Mercedes.

Hamilton has been most successful at the Hungaroring and the Silverstone Circuit, where he has won eight times each – again holding the record alongside Schumacher for the most number of victories at the same track.

He also shares the record of the highest number of consecutive seasons with at least one victory with Schumacher at 15 years in succession.

Formula 1 travels to the Losail Circuit for the Qatar Grand Prix on November 21, with Red Bull star Verstappen holding a 14-point lead over Mercedes’ Hamilton.
