Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen involved in high-speed British GP crash

Max Verstappen is out of the British Grand Prix after contact with Lewis Hamilton on the opening lap of the British Grand Prix, after a high-speed crash into the barriers. The two were battling for the lead of the race, with Verstappen leading the way on pole position.

As the lights went out, Hamilton had a seemingly excellent start, immediately attacking his main championship rival into turn one at Silverstone circuit, in front of a cheering home crowd.

Hamilton and Verstappen then spent the next seven corners dueling for the lead of the race, until the two came together at turn 9 with the Red Bull sent cascading into the barriers.

The Dutchman was seen climbing out of the car, away from his stricken car, as the championship leader’s race was over, with the red flag being shown moments after.
