F1’s Singapore track on new Call of Duty – and they’ve fired shots at Piastri

Popular gaming franchise Call of Duty is releasing a map based around the Singapore GP in its upcoming Modern Warfare II.

The map set in Marina's Bay will feature a burning pit lane as cars rip around the track. And players will be able to duck and weave through the pit lane in 6v6 combat when the title is released later this year.

But even Call of Duty couldn't help but make a cheeky dig at the ongoing Oscar Piastri saga. And when making the announcement via social media the Call of Duty team referenced Piastri's now infamous tweet.

No F1 teams, or F1 themselves, have connected themselves to the project, so don't expect to see any recognisable teams in the pit – in their place appears to be the 'Rohan team' garage.

And the tyres in the pit lane and the tyres on the car are not from Pirelli – instead, they're from Tullis Tyres.

It's not the first time F1 and Call of Duty have crossed paths, and in Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton made a cameo as a non-playable character.

Call of Duty tweeted: "We understand that, with our agreement, @infinityward have announced they designed a Grand Prix map as a part of the #MWII Beta."

The tweet was a cheeky reference to Piastri, who tweeted: "I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year."

The misunderstanding has come about after Sebastian Vettel left Alpine for Aston Martin for the 2023 season.

Piastri is currently Alpine's reserve racer, and the team have funded his junior career.

However, Piastri appears to have snubbed an F1 seat with rumours emerging he has his eyes on McLaren – Alpines big rivals. McLaren should have two drivers next season – Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo – but Ricciardo's seat is up in the air.

Ricciardo's contract runs until the end of 2023, but the team have hinted they have 'options' with the Australian.
