Tom Brady lands mega payday after Tampa Bay Buccaneers seal Super Bowl LV spot
Tom Brady: NFL star ‘summons’ Rob Gronkowski in 2016
Tom Brady has landed himself a monster bonus after guiding the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Super Bowl LV with a victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Brady has earned himself $500,000 after leading the Bucs to their first Super Bowl since 2002.
Brady put in a show-stopping performance to lead the Bucs to the Super Bowl with a 31-26 victory over the Packers.
He threw two touchdowns as he rolled back the years to reach the tenth Super Bowl of his career.
The Bucs started the game brightly as Brady connected with Mike Evans for the opening touchdown.
Leonard Fournette put Tampa Bay back in the lead with a sensational rushing touchdown after Aaron Rodgers had connected with Marquez Valdes- Scantling to tie the scoring.
Just before the half, Brady pulled out a phenomenal throw deep into the end zone from 40 yards, which Scotty Miller caught for the touchdown.
Brady looked to have put the game out of sight in the third quarter after connecting with Cameron Brate for an easy touchdown, giving the Bucs a 28-10 lead.
Rodgers refused to give up without a fight, however, with Robert Tonyan diving in the end zone to put the Packers back in contention.
The legendary quarterback then produced another moment of magic to connect with Davanta Adams for a touchdown to make the NFC Championship a five-point game.
The Packers had chances to get back into the game and put themselves ahead, but failed to make any of them pay.
Instead, the Bucs put themselves further ahead through a Ryan Succop field goal.
A field goal from Packers kicker Mason Crosby made it a five-point game again just before the two minute warning, but that wasn’t enough for them to stop Brady from guiding the Bucs to the biggest game in the sport.
And in doing so, he collected a whopping half a million dollars, according to ESPN.
The quarterback, who signed as a free agent last year after leaving the New England Patriots, has already collected bonuses of $1.25m.
ESPN claims he earned $500,000 for guiding the Bucs to the Playoffs, another $250,000 for their wildcard win over Washington and another $500,000 for their win over the New Orleans Saints.
The Bucs will now face either the Buffalo Bills or the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl on February 7th.
The game will be played at the Bucs’ home field of Raymond James Stadium, the first time a team has played a Super Bowl in their home stadium.
