Steph Curry was ridiculous again against the Sixers and it was so beautiful
This is the Morning Win, by Andy Nesbitt.
Yesterday in this Morning Win space I wrote about how Steph Curry is on a ridiculous run right now and how he’s is so darn fun to watch every time he takes the court.
Well, he took the court Monday night in Philadelphia and put on another absolute show against the top team in the Eastern Conference, finishing with 49 points and leading Golden State to a huge 107-96 win on the road.
Curry now has 11 straight games of 30 points or more and has gone for 40 or more in five of those games (he had 47 last Saturday in a loss to the Celtics). He’s also made a wild 54 3-pointers in the last six games and 70 in his last 10 games.
Curry led the Warriors to the win Monday night in very familiar Steph Curry fashion – by doing most of his damage from deep. The two-time NBA champ had five long three pointers over the final six minutes, which made a close a game not so close in the final minute.
The 3-point mastery has been a staple in Curry’s career and it was once again on display against the Sixers. He finished the game 10 of 17 from beyond the arc, which is the 21st time in his career that he’s made 10 or more threes in a game. That’s a NBA record that is 16 games better than the person in second place.
Curry did his damage last night with his brother Seth Curry guarding him for large parts of the game and he seemed to relish handing another one of his brother’s teams a loss thanks to his ridiculous shooting.
Saying Steph Curry is fun to watch is hardly breaking news and not very creative. But his threes late in the win over the Sixers were the type of shots where you yell out loud when they go in, even if you don’t care who wins. I know that because I lived that – you can just ask my dog Boogie, who gave me some weird looks for waking him up with my shrieks.
Remember hearing people earlier this season questioning Curry’s ability to lead this young Warriors team? Yeah, those were some stupid takes.
Curry is as unstoppable as ever. The Sixers were the latest team to learn that and they won’t be the last.
