Najee Harris grills some beef with Todd McShay: ‘I think he can kiss my ass’

Troll Tide.

Alabama running back Najee Harris is widely expected to go in one of the top two rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft, though, according to some analysts, he is imperfect (as are all NFL Draft prospects).

ESPN draft man Todd McShay feels as much, saying that, among other things, Harris’ pass-catching ability improved in 2020 and that he lacks acceleration ability.

Speaking on “The Adam Schefter Podcast,” ESPN NFL insider Schefter read to Harris one of McShay’s mostly positive — but also kinda negative — scouting reports, with which Harris took issue.

“I think Todd McShay can kiss my ass,” Harris said. “How is he gonna say ‘He showed better production?’ I did not play my freshman or sophomore seasons, rarely, ever. I didn’t have an opportunity to show I could catch.

“It’s not ’cause I can’t, it’s ’cause I wasn’t in the game to show people I could catch. So let’s just stop looking at the stat sheet and watch the game.”

Harris has a point. In 2019 his seven receiving TDs as a running back earned him the record for tops in Crimson Tide history, notching another four touchdowns through the air in 2020.

Harris is considered to be a top running back prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft, considered either the No. 1 or No. 2 back beside Clemson’s Travis Etienne.

And, for what it’s worth, Harris can squat 600 pounds. So if McShay takes him up on the offer, he might have a lot of real estate to cover.
