Deshaun Watson trade rumors: Latest news on Dolphins, Panthers, Eagles before 2021 NFL deadline
The Deshaun Watson watch is on. Again.
The Texans quarterback requested a trade during the offseason, but none came to pass; Soon after Watson’s January trade request, sexual assault allegations came to light that planted him firmly in Houston for the time being.
The NFL has yet to levy any kind of discipline against Watson, while the quarterback still hasn’t played a snap in 2021. Instead, Houston has made its problem inactive, with Tyrod Taylor, then Davis Mills, getting starts while its season has circled the drain (1-6 entering Week 8).
Now, with rumors of several teams interested — the Dolphins, Panthers and Eagles — Watson trade watch is active once again. Miami was first to reportedly engage in trade talks with Houston, and the rumor mill has churned harder since then.
Here’s the latest on what you need to know surrounding Watson and any kind of deal ahead of the Nov. 2 trade deadline:
Deshaun Watson trade news
Dolphins owner hasn’t pushed for trade
Date: Oct. 25
Source: Peter King, NBC Sports
According to Peter King, Dolphins owner Stephen Ross isn’t currently “pushing” the front office to make a move for Watson.
“I do hear that Miami owner Stephen Ross is not pushing his football people to deal for Watson right now,” King wrote in his Oct. 25 Football Morning in America column. “Which is smart. It makes zero sense for a team to deal huge assets for a player when the team doesn’t know when the player will be able to play.”
Panthers have again entered the Watson sweepstakes
Date: Oct. 25

The Panthers have just about given up on Sam Darnold after another poor performance, and are expected to jump back into the mix to try and land Watson, per Fowler.
Carolina was one of the teams interested during the initial opening of trade talks, and it appears they’re prepared to outbid any team if it means getting Watson under center.

The Athletic’s Joe Person reports — just minutes after the Panthers lost to the Giants amid another bad Sam Darnold performance — league sources “expect” the Panthers to jump back into trade talks for Watson.

Watson has no interest in Philadelphia

While Philadelphia might believe it’s special, Watson still has no interest in a trade that’ll land him in the “City of Brotherly Love,” per McClain.
Watson has yet to approve a trade to the Eagles, and he may not, at this point.
Eagles, Broncos out on Watson
Date: Oct. 21

According to former Houston Chronicle reporter Aaron Wilson, both the Broncos and the Eagles aren’t expected to engage in Watson trade talks. The Eagles had previously been interested, but pulled out during the summer.
The Broncos are also reportedly passing on Watson’s services.
Texans, Dolphins moving closer to deal

The second part of that didn’t happen, but rumors to the Dolphins persist.
