Are we all somehow underselling the Chiefs leading up to Super Bowl 55?

This is the Morning Win, by Andy Nesbitt.

We’re now just a few days away from the the Bucs and Chiefs squaring off in Super Bowl 55 and while the hype for the game hasn’t really taken off yet, I am getting the feeling that a lot of people are actually underselling the defending champs leading up to this one.

Am I the only one feeling that way?

On Monday I checked out a gambling website to see how much the spread had grown and it still had the Chiefs giving up just three points, which seems so low to me, especially when you remember that Kansas City has a guy named PATRICK MAHOMES as its QB.

On Tuesday, my friend Charles McDonald broke down the four things the Chiefs have to do to win on Sunday. He examined the defensive schemes that will work and some offensive things they can do to help their chances. But he finished it off perfectly by saying, “Don’t overthink it, you’ve got Patrick Mahomes.”

And that’s the difference right there – the Chiefs have Mahomes and the Bucs do not.

Yes, I know who the Bucs have at QB and betting against Tom Brady in a Super Bowl doesn’t always work out, does it? But it really feels to me like the Chiefs could run away from Tampa in this game and we could have our first blowout since the Seahawks spanked the Broncos seven years ago in New Jersey.

The Chiefs’ offense – with Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Tyreek Hill leading the way – was clicking against the Bills in the AFC title game and most of the guys in the lineup were here last year. Experience matters and these guys have it. And yes, Brady has loads of Super Bowl experience but a lot of his teammates do not.

My friend Steven Ruiz, who broke down five things the Bucs need to do to win the Super Bowl, posed a great question on Twitter about those three Kansas City stars and he’s absolutely right in saying they are the best “Big 3” in NFL history.

It feels like that take will only be solidified Sunday night in Tampa. And it feels like this is going to be another big step for Mahomes’ legacy as his chase for Tom Brady’s six Super Bowl rings continues.

The Bucs’ defense is coming off wins over Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, but it is banged up a little bit and Patrick Mahomes is a whole lot different than those two legendary QBs.

It just feels like this is going to be an easy one for the Chiefs, though I’m wrong a lot in life so I better get ready to say congrats to the Bucs.

Also, this break between the conference championship games and the Super Bowl feels sooooooo much longer than usual. Sunday can’t get here fast enough!
