World sport’s 10 richest owners includes Premier League trio with combined £46bn

Three Premier League owners have made it onto the Top 10 richest owners in sport, according to research by OBLG.

Manchester City's owner Sheik Mansour is the highest-ranking Premier League owner on the list; he's ranked at 7th with a net worth of £17billion. City have transformed into global superstars since Mansour's takeover in 2008, and the Champions League is the only trophy missing.

Mansour also heads up the 'City Football Group' which is a group of clubs around the globe connected to City. These include Melbourne City FC, New York City FC, and Mumbai City FC, as well as partial stakes in other outfits.

The next Premier League owner to make the cut is Arsenal's American owner Stan Kroenke.

Kroenke, and his wife Ann, own four franchises alongside the Gunners helping their net worth up to an eye-watering £15billion. Kroenke also owns the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, and Colorado Rapids.

The American has experienced success in his homeland in recent years with the Rams winning the Super Bowl.

Interestingly, propping up the list, in tenth place, is new Newcastle owner Mohammad Bin Salman.

Newly-minted Newcastle were reportedly the richest side in world football when the Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia took the reins. However, he is only tenth on the list and has a reported net worth of £13.6billion.

Newcastle haven't been shy to splash their new cash too, and Eddie Howe's new-look side look to have steered clear of the drop this season.

The richest football owner comes from La Liga, but it's not Real Madrid or Barcelona – instead, it's Carlos Slim, who owns second-tier outfit Real Oviedo.

Slim has a net worth of £61billion, and he was once the wealthiest man on the planet. He owns Oviedo through his global conglomerate Grupo Carso.

There's no room for PSG's billions, but Stade Rennais owner, François Pinault, makes the list on fifth and Red Bull's chief honcho, Dietrich Mateschitz, sits in sixth.

The top spot is claimed by LA Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, with his net worth of £72.8billion, narrowly ahead of the Mukesh Ambani – who owns cricket side Mumbai Indians – on £72billion.
