Tony Hawk nails insane skateboarding skill at 52 after dislocating fingers

Skateboarding icon Tony Hawk nailed an incredible skateboarding skill – at 52 years old and with a dislocated finger.

The American, nicknamed “Birdman”, enjoyed a professional career of 21 years that started at 14 years old in 1982.

But he has remained active in the sport, even creating a video game series that has 18 editions since its launch 22 years ago.

And footage has emerged of Hawk making an astonishing skill happen after some hard falls.

In the clip, the 52-year-old is attempting to perform a 720 spin which will see him make two complete turns in the air.

But it is not easy for the American, trying and failing several times as he is left falling down the ramp to the floor.

The moment does come, though, as he is able to achieve the skill as he floats through the air, making the spins before rolling down the ramp.

It was the first time Hawk had nailed the move in three years – and the emotion is clear to see, with the skater yelling in delight.

This footage was shared on the skateboarding icon’s Instagram channel, where he made an admission about an extra obstacle the American had to overcome.

Accompanying the clip, the 52-year-old wrote: “I recently made a 720 and it was a battle. The last one I made before this was over three years ago, and it’s much harder now all things considered.

“Recently dislocated fingers hinder my grab, my spin is slower so I need to go higher for full rotation and … I’m really old.

But it does not always go to plan as the skateboard showed off a gruesome injury he picked up on the board last year.
