Tennis potty mouth Daniil Medvedev slams "empty brain" fans in latest tirade
Daniil Medvedev lashed out at the Australian Open final crowd for having "empty brains" after he was distracted by disturbances between several first and second serves.
The Russian No. 2 seed was two sets to the good in a dramatic final against iconic Spaniard Rafael Nadal, winning by six games to two before winning a tie-break 7-6 in the second.
However, things would quickly take a turn for the worse for the 25-year-old as his veteran opponent rattled off sets of 6-4 and 6-4 to level the encounter.
During those two losing sets, Medvedev began to take aim at the crowd, as he had done on more than one occasion during the men's singles draw.
This time he spoke to Australian chair umpire John Blom over his concerns.
A shirtless Medvedev told Blom: "They are ridiculous." Adding: "No brain, huh? Empty brains."
While also appearing to mutter: "Probably in their life it must be very bad, huh?"

Blom sided with Medvedev over his complaints, saying that those who distract the 2021 US Open champion would be removed from the arena.
Medvedev again mentioned the crowd after losing the decider 7-5, but did praise Nadal, 35, who moved ahead of Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic with 21 Grand Slam triumphs.
He said: "It’s disappointing. It’s disrespectful, it’s disappointing. I’m not sure after 30 years I’m going to want to play tennis."
Medvedev continued: "From now on I’m playing for myself, for my family, to provide (for) my family, for people that trust in me, of course for all the Russians because I feel a lot of support there.
"I’m going to say it like this if there is a tournament on hard courts in Moscow, before Roland Garros or Wimbledon, I’m going to go there even if I miss Wimbledon or Roland Garros or whatever.
"The kid stopped dreaming. The kid is going to play for himself."
