Frances Tiafoe has wowed his home crowd at the US Open this year after reaching the semi-final, and one person who has been there every step of the way is his fellow tennis ace girlfriend Ayan Broomfield. Tiafoe became a fan favourite in New York, flying the flag for the United States at his home open.

His remarkable run finally came to an end in the early of Saturday morning after he was defeated in an epic five-set match 6-7. 6-3, 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 by Spanish starlet Carlos Alcaraz. Amongst the home support, Tiafoe's biggest fan has been Broomfield and it turns out the American is not the only star in the relationship.

Tiafoe and Broomfield went public with their relationship back in 2018, and are often seen documenting their lives together when appearing on each other's Instagram accounts.

25-year-old Broomfield is also a fellow tennis pro, and is currently ranked 1,578th in the world. The Canadian's career best ranking came in 2016, when she broke into the top 700 in the world after reaching 680th in the world.

As well as starring on the court, Broomfield has also starred in front of camera after featuring in Will Smith's recent movie 'King Richard'. The film documents the life of Serena and Venus Williams, and the 25-year-old acted as a double for Saniyya Sidney who played the role of Venus.

Broomfield has been a constant figure in New York watching her hero boyfriend making a national sensation. Unsurprisingly the American was distraught after his epic loss to Alcaraz, but vowed one day to be crowned US Open champion.

Speaking afterwards an emotional Tiafoe said: "This one really, really hurts. Too good from Carlos. You’re going to win a lot of Grand Slams, you’re a hell of a player, a hell of a person. I’m happy I got to share the court on such a big stage with you.

“I am going to come back and I will win this thing one day. I’m sorry guys.” Tiafoe competed in front of America's former First Lady Michelle Obama at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, something the 24-year-old described as unbelievable.

He went on: "Seeing her there was crazy … we all know what she means. I’ve seen her before, but it’s a little bit different circumstance. She sees me and she’s actually excited to see me. Unbelievable night.”
