Tampa Bay Buccaneers need to ‘overwhelm’ Kansas City Chiefs to win Super Bowl
Two-time Super Bowl winner Osi Umenyiora believes the Tampa Bay Buccaneers need to ‘overwhelm’ the Kansas City Chiefs if they are to win the Super Bowl.
The two sides meet on Sunday with plenty of eyes on quarterback stars Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes.
At 43, Brady is entering his tenth Super Bowl having won six of his previous nine while Mahomes led the Chiefs to victory at last year’s season finale.
Mahomes is dangerous with both feet and arm while Brady is considered less mobile despite his incredible NFL success.
And former New York Giants star Umenyiora, who beat Brady’s New England Patriots in two Super Bowls, admits the Chiefs worry him more as a defensive player.
Though he believes the Tampa D-line can do enough to stop the likes of Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill.
Umenyiora said: "Not only do they have their quarterback, but the receivers that they have, all three guys, are extremely speedy.
“Travis Kelce, the best receiving tight end in football. It's a very difficult thing to match up against those kind of players.
“But the defensive line of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, they have the advantage. This is where they win the game, if they're going to win the game, the defensive line have to earn their money.
“They have to overwhelm the Kansas City Chiefs offensive line. Otherwise, they're not going to stand a chance.”
Super Bowl LV is live on BBC One and BBC Radio 5 Live on Sunday, February 7, kick-off 11.30pm
