Pickens produces one of NFL’s best-ever catches – and Odell Beckham Jr loves it

Wide receiver George Pickens pulled off one of the greatest NFL catches of all time when in action for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Cleveland Browns on Friday, and received plaudits from fellow star Odell Beckham Jr. Heading into the game, Pickens had endured a slow start to the season, having had just two catches for 26 yards.

The 21-year-old certainly made up for lost time though, as he remarkably found himself on the end of a 36-yard reception which looked to be sailing out of play. As the ball flew over his head, an outstretched Pickens reached out with his right hand to take the catch, leaving the First Energy Stadium in awe.

It was not just the crowd in Cleveland that were amazed, as those watching at home across the world took to social media to commend the wide receiver's audacious catch.

This included former New York Giants, Los Angeles Rams and Browns man Beckham Jr. OBJ himself pulled off a catch for the ages back in 2014 when competing for the Giants against the Dallas Cowboys.

Following Pickens' heroics on Friday, the 21-year-old has earned comparisons to Beckham Jr's 2014 touchdown.

And, OBJ himself took to Twitter to have his say, tweeting: "PICKKKK!!! Lord jesussssssss that was fireeeee," before later adding: "THIS CATCH IS FILTHY."

Pickens' heroic catch proved pivotal for his side, as the Steelers added their first touchdown of the night courtesy of Najee Harris just a few moves later to level the match at 7-7.

Despite this it was not meant to be for the visiting team, as the Browns ran away with the victory by seeing off their opponents 29-17. Following his piece of magic, Pickens revealed after the game via the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "I just say that because I'm a big guy that runs in the low 4.4s.

"I always have a step on somebody and my step is naturally longer than the other person, and I'm actually fast. I'm always [going to] have a step and always feel like, 99 percent of the time, I'm open even though the ball gets there in the air and [the defender] gets time to catch back up. But I'm open as soon as I get off the line."
