Golf wonderkid achieves feat even Tiger Woods couldn’t as he makes history at 14
There is a new teenager golf sensation on the golf circuit who is years ahead of Tiger Woods after becoming the youngest player to make the cut at one of the game's major tours.
Hsieh Cheng-wei, aged 14 years and 33 days, hit an opening 69 at Linkou International before following that with a second round 74 to comfortably make the cut at the Asian Tour event and in doing so becoming the youngest player in history to do it. However, it wasn't Woods who held the previous record but Guan Tian-lang, who made the cut at the 2013 Masters when he was 14 years and 169 days.

Young golfing star Woods didn't accomplish a professional cut until the age of 19 at the Masters in 1995.
The Chinese-Tapei rising star, who started playing golf at the age of four, is currently an amateur but will be hoping to continue his rise. Despite making the cut Cheng-wei was far from pleased from his round.
“My calculations weren’t accurate today,” said Hsieh talking to the AsianTour.com.
“I didn’t putt well. I didn’t hit it well off the tee especially on the back nine. It’s not that tough out there. I just didn’t play my best game. I got nervous towards the end because I wasn’t playing well. I didn’t have much expectation though. I just try to play my best.
“I started preparing for this tournament after I found out I could play when I won the Yeangder amateur event in June. I have been practicing here a lot.”
The fortunes of young golfing stars have been mixed as they've progressed through the game. Previous record holder Tian-lang ended up playing collegiately golf at the University of Arizona and is currently outside the top 1,900 players in the world.
In comparison Woods won his first of 15 major titles at the Masters in 1997 at the age of 21 before having an outstanding career in the game.
