Ms McKeown burst out with a string of expletives after she broke an Olympic record to win gold in the women’s 100m backstroke final at the Tokyo Games. Speaking to Australian television network ‘7’, she could not contain her excitement after the win. But the Australian explained how the win has a much deeper, more personal meaning to her than it appears on the surface and revealed a heartbreaking family tragedy that spurred her on through the race.
