Denver Nuggets game vs. Detroit Pistons postponed due to COVID-19 concerns – The Denver Post
The Denver Nuggets’ home game against the Detroit Pistons was postponed Monday, the league announced less than 15 minutes before tip.
The game was officially postponed due to a positive or inconclusive test on Detroit’s side, a league source told The Denver Post. That specific test did not come from former Nuggets players Mason Plumlee or Jerami Grant, the league source said, both of whom spent significant time chatting and catching up with their former teammates prior to tip-off.
“Because of ongoing contact tracing within the Pistons, the team does not have the league-required eight available players to proceed with tonight’s game against the Nuggets,” a statement from the NBA read.
Teams were informed of the postponement only minutes before 7:00 P.M. It is the 23rd postponement so far this season due to COVID.
After both teams went through routine pregame shooting routines, with dozens of players working out and getting shots up, all team personnel and players were cleared from the court as the regular start time approached.
It’s the first postponement of the season for the Nuggets, who are scheduled to face the Lakers on Thursday night. Denver wasn’t scheduled to practice tomorrow after their extended road trip and still won’t.
About 30 minutes after the announcement came, Pistons players were all sitting, spread out, throughout the lower bowl of Ball Arena. Two arena workers mopped the floors and two others went row-by-row, spraying down seats in the lower bowl that hadn’t been used.
