$2.6 million in prizemoney injected into SA racing for 2021

Racing in South Australia is set to receive a significant boost in 2021 with six figures of additional prizemoney to be injected later this year.

The $2.6 million boost will come into effect at the launch of the 2021 Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival (April 1, 2021) with all black type races set to be increased, along with a major boost to the feature events.

General prizemoney levels will come into effect from July 1, 2021 following a doubling of the Racing Rewards SA incentive sceheme.

“The industry is strong and vibrant at the moment, and this announcement only adds further to that momentum,” Racing SA CEO Nick Redin said.

“We’re backing the industry to get behind us, and the trainers and other industry figures we speak to are certainly doing that.

“These new prize money levels will ensure our SA participants will be in a position to continue to grow their businesses.”

Each of the four Group 1 races (Goodwood Handicap, Robert Sangster Stakes, Australasian Oaks and SA Derby) will now be run for $502,250 after $402,250 was on offer in 2020 while the Adelaide Cup is set to rise to $302,250, a $50,000.
