UFC star Jones reveals new physique ahead of title fight against Gane

UFC legend Jon Jones shows off his ripped heavyweight physique ahead of huge title fight against Ciryl Gane in Las Vegas… as the American ditches ‘mean six pack’ in preparation for his first fight in three years

  • The American will take on Ciryl Gane in a bout for the UFC’s heavyweight title
  • The 35-year-old looks noticeably bigger than his previous UFC outing in 2020

UFC legend Jon Jones has revealed his new heavyweight physique ahead of his title fight against Ciryl Gane and, it’s fair to say, he’s looking noticeably bigger.

Jones hasn’t stepped foot inside the octagon since his unanimous decision victory over Dominick Reyes three years ago but is preparing to return to the UFC for the huge clash this weekend.

The American will make a step up in weight division for the bout, moving from light heavyweight to heavyweight, and has undergone a pretty serious body transformation in order to do so.

Pictures of the new jacked-up Jones began circulating social media last night after official snaps from the UFC’s pre-fight photo shoot were released.

The 35-year-old has ditched his toned torso for the clash with Gane and looks considerably larger than he did for his last outing against Reyes.

Speaking to reporters, ahead of the fight, Jones reflected on his new physique as he said: ‘Honestly I feel like a stronger version of myself.

‘I’m not super lean. I don’t have a mean six pack like I used to. That took me a while to get used to, you know what I mean?

‘Like, back in the day I would judge my fitness level by the way I looked in the mirror. I’m a heavyweight now. It’s not about what you look like.

‘It’s about how you perform. I feel like I’m performing really well. I feel really good. I like it. I get to eat what I want, feel good. Life is good.’

Despite his bulked up physique, Jones reassured fans that he had been ‘training my ass off’ in the build-up to the highly-anticipated clash with Gane.

Former light-heavyweight champion Jones hasn’t fought since February 2020 and subsequently announced his intention to bulk up and move up a division.

His last performance inside the octagon came marred in controversy as a number of fans suggested that he’d been outclassed by Reyes – despite being awarded a unanimous decision victory.

Jones was then expected to return to the UFC and take on heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, before the latter snubbed an offer which would have made him the highest-paid heavyweight of all time.

Gane, on the other hand, won his last fight in convincing fashion but not before being outclassed by Ngannou in his first attempt at the heavyweight title in 2022.

UFC 285 promises to be one of the most exciting cards this year, even if you look past the thrilling main event between Jones and Gane.

Women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko will defend her title against Alex Grasso, after Geoff Neal and Shavkat Rakhmonov clash in a welterweight bout.

Meanwhile, Russian star Sergei Pavlovich has been confirmed as the backup fighter for this weekend’s UFC 285 main event.

The news was confirmed by Pavlovich’s manager Ali Abdelaziz, who claimed that the Russian heavyweight would be weighing in on Friday ahead of the bout.
