Dustin Poirier has accused Conor McGregor of ‘ghosting’ him and failing to deliver on a huge $500,000 donation promised to his foundation.

Before their rematch in January, where Poirier stunned the Notorious on his comeback with a knock-out victory at Fight Island, it was revealed McGregor would make the large donation to the American’s ‘Good Fight Foundation’, with Poirier’s wife Jolie personally thanking him after the fight.

But ahead of their trilogy fight in July, Poirier took to Twitter to call out McGregor and reveal the foundation are still waiting for the money, sparking a heated exchange of words between the pair.

Dustin Poirier accused Conor McGregor of not donating $500,000 promised to his foundation

The Diamond said McGregor stopped responding to the foundation after the fight in January

Poirier then said the ‘Good Fight Foundation’ reached out three times with no reply

Responding to the Irishman claiming he will win the trilogy fight with a ‘front kick to the nose’ at UFC 264, Poirier tweeted: ‘That’s a fun prediction! you also predicted a donation to my foundation and you and your team stopped responding after the fight in January. See you soon. July 10th Paid In Full!’

He did not stop there. The Diamond fired back to a claim by a fan that his foundation confirmed they had received the sum after the fight by saying McGregor had ‘ghosted’ them several times.

Poirier added: ‘We thanked him because his team reached out fight week to initiate the process but ghosted us the past 2 months after the fight.

‘My foundation has reached out 3 times since with no reply. We’ve moved past it! We will be announcing our next goal soon! It’s a big one.’

McGregor took to twitter to clarify, saying foundation failed to state where the funds would go

Poirier was firm on his stance as he again claimed McGregor’s camp failed to respond

The pair’s trilogy bout could prove decisive for McGregor’s bid to regain the lightweight title

In response to his rival’s claims, McGregor said: ‘A donation, not a debt. We’ve been awaiting the plans for the money that never came. I do with all my donations. Know where it’s going dot for dot. Otherwise it goes walking.

‘As is the case with a lot of these foundations, sadly. You took the McG over the belt shows I was right.’

It did not end there, with Poirier again claiming McGregor’s team failed to respond to his foundation, while stoking the fire by insisting he will defeat the Irishman once again in July.

The Irishman had predicted that he would beat Poirier with a front kick to the nose on July 10

‘100% never a debt. You offered, we accepted, and like I said your Team never responded to our emails regarding the process of where funds would be put to work! July 10th you will taste defeat yet Again.’

The fight this summer could well be a last chance saloon for McGregor in UFC after tasting two defeats in his last three fights.

If he is able to beat Poirier to a 2-1 series win following McGregor’s 2014 victory, he will put himself in prime position to face either Michael Chandler or Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title.
