UFC president Dana White will announce Khabib Nurmagomedov’s decision on his fighting future on Saturday night.

White met with the undefeated UFC lightweight champion in private in Abu Dhabi on Friday and has told fans for months that he will do everything he can to get him to fight at least one more time.

Khabib shocked the MMA world when he said he was hanging up his gloves following his second-round submission win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in October.

The Russian, who had lost his beloved father just months prior, sited a promise to his mother as his primary reason.

However, many in the sport believe he will step back in the octagon to extend his record to 30-0, a milestone his trainer father had long targeted.

Taking to social media, White shared a video of himself following his talks with Khabib.

‘I met with Khabib Nurmagomedov last night,’ he said. ‘Today at three o’clock on the east coast (8pm GMT), on ABC the network, I’m going to talk about his decision, and how it’s going to impact the Poirier-McGregor fight next weekend, and the co-main event in the lightweight division.’

Lightweight contenders McGregor and Poirier compete in the main event of UFC 257 and Khabib’s decision will certainly decide what will be at stake.

Should he stay retired, his 155-pound title could well up for grabs on the night. Should he want to fight again, the winner will likely be his opponent.

White teased that Khabib’s decision will impact Conor McGregor (L) vs Dustin Poirier (R) 2
