Conor McGregor to be granted FOURTH Dustin Poirier fight after snapping leg

Conor McGregor WILL be granted a fourth fight with Dustin Poirier after snapping his leg in their trilogy bout – but will have to wait.

The Irishman broke his lower limb as he stepped back having missed a punch towards the end of the session.

He fell to the canvas and was unable to rise at the end of the round as the doctor ruled he was unfit to continue.

McGregor will have surgery on Sunday but could fight Poirier again when he has recovered.

Poirier, who has now won back-to-back fights against the former two-weight champion, will now challenge lightweight ruler Charles Oliveira later this year.

UFC president Dana White said: "The fight didn’t get finished. You can’t have a fight finish that way. We’ll see how this whole thing plays out. Who knows how long Conor’s out, so Poirier will do his thing until Conor’s ready.

"You can’t do the hypotheticals in this sport. It’s all about timing, what’s going on, what’s happens since then. Conor goes into surgery tomorrow. We don’t know long how he’s going to be out. How much his rehab and therapy he’s going to need."

Should Poirier beat Oliveira, McGregor could earn a title shot despite having lost three of his last four fights – but Poirier will demand he wins a fight first.

"Conor McGregor is 1-4 in the lightweight division. Yeah, he has to win some fights, but like I said, if he goes out and starches somebody, he's right back in the title picture," he said.

And his post-fight comments showed there remains plenty of bad blood between the rivals.

McGregor said: "Your wife is in my DMs, hey baby," he jeered as Poirier was making his way back to the dressing rooms.

"Hit me back up I'll chat to you later on, I'll be at the after party at the Wynn night club. You look in bits you little h**!

"I was boxing the ears off him, kicking the legs off him, usual s**** he dived to close the distance.

"This is not over! If I have to take this outside with him it's on outside I don't give a b*******."

Poirier, though, hit out at his opponent for his trash talking.

"Even when he was sitting there on the ground with his busted leg, he was looking at me going (*gun to head motion*) like he's going to kill me," he said.

"Bro, what is wrong with you? You don't say shit like that. I don't play those kind of games."
