Conor McGregor slams former UFC champion as "fat drunk" in deleted tweet

Conor McGregor has taken aim at former two-weight UFC champion Daniel Cormier in a recent deleted tweet, labelling Cormier a "fat drunk f***".

It's the latest tweet and delete from McGregor, who suffered a broken tibia in his stoppage loss to Dustin Poirier last month at UFC 264.

The Irishman came under fire in late July when he mocked the death of Khabib Nurmagomedov' s father, Abdulmanap, who passed away last year after a long battle with coronavirus.

After McGregor's rival Khabib congratulated Poirier on his win over McGregor, stating: "Good always defeats evil", the Irishman tweeted: "Covid is good and father is evil?

Khabib's teammate Cormier would later criticise McGregor's comments, stating they were a "cry for help".

"(He) absolutely crossed the line. I think when stuff like that is being said, it’s a cry for help," Cormier said.

"Conor has all the money in the world, he has all the fame, but now when you start to dig at that level, it’s like somebody needs to get to McGregor and help him to start to kind of re-shift his mind and his focus and get him back to a better place. It’s unfortunate."

McGregor caught on to Cormier's comments and mocked them during the UFC 265 broadcast this past weekend. He tweeted a photo of Cormier with a caption reading: "A cry for help if ever I seen one."

His attack on Cormier didn't stop there, as he also mocked his commentary skills. McGregor reposted a picture of him landing a kick on Poirier in their fight, accompanied by the caption: "'Clean check right there by Poirier' fat drunk f*** DC."

McGregor is known for tweeting, and then often deleting, rants aimed at other fighters. Khabib thinks the Irishman's recent comments about his late father have shown just how evil McGregor is.

"When he talked about this, only evil can talk about your father, wife, kids, religion," Nurmagomedov said.

"If you’re normal human, you’re never going to talk about this stuff. For me, I think he post this tweet (while) drunk too much or (he was doing) something.

"Then the next day, he always delete these tweets. When he become normal life (he looks at his phone) and says, ‘Oh, look what I did.’ Then he delete. This is my opinion what he do all the time."

The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion McGregor is likely to be sidelined for a year to recover from his broken tibia. He had a titanium rod placed in his left leg after the fight and has recently returned to weight training whilst in a cast.
