Conor McGregor responds to rival’s accusation of drug use with ‘kill’ threat

Conor McGregor sent an ominous message to Tony Ferguson, saying he wants to kill the American in a tweet which has since been deleted.

The Irishman is currently nursing the broken leg he suffered during his UFC 264 defeat to Dustin Poirier in July.

It is perhaps fair to say McGregor has entered somewhat of a frustrating period of his career with three defeats in his last four UFC fights in the Octagon.

However, the 33-year-old has still managed to jostle himself into the headlines despite his side-lining, as he has found himself feuding with the likes of Machine Gun Kelly and an Italian DJ.

But his most significant controversy to surround the Irishman in recent weeks has been his feud with American MMA fighter Tony Ferguson.

The lightweight recently launched his own attack on McGregor, accusing him of taking illegal performance enhancing substances, as well as labelling McGregor as a “cheat”.

McGregor took no exception to Ferguson’s social media jibe; proceeding to waste no time in responding to the former UFC lightweight champion.

The Irishman’s razor-sharp tongue has regularly teetered over the line of mere trash talk and dangerous language.

And in a tweet which has since been deleted, McGregor furiously responded to Ferguson’s accusation by saying he wants to “kill” him in the Octagon.

“Me and you are fighting one day mate, and I gonna end your life in there full of it,” McGregor replied.

“Sauce. Money. Power. I already won all the belts and the money in this game.

“I just want to kill one of you rats in there now, it’s the only thing left for me to do.

“And watch me do it. Only on PPV.”

It is the most recent, and perhaps most harmful controversy the Irishman has found himself in.

The venomous tweet was sent out to his 8.9million Twitter followers, but was soon deleted.

McGregor was responding to an accusation for Ferguson, who said the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion is a “cheat” and has been “taking growth hormones”.

“Taking Growth Hormone will do that to someone’s build,” Ferguson said to McGregor.

“You’re mentally weak and your leg is compromised. You’re fragile, frail, and breakable.

“That GH gon’ make you break kid. Keep pumpin’ ya chest ya cheat. Not the 1 st time god punished you.

“You like picking on people and DJS?”

The feud with Ferguson is the latest incident which has seen him amongst the headlines for the wrong reason.

McGregor and Machine Gun Kelly reportedly had to be separated at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards after both becoming embroiled in a significant war or words.

Photos of the fighter, commonly referred to as ‘the Notorious’ having to be held back by security guards as he tried to reach Kelly also emerged soon after the event.

The scuffle is rumoured to have began Kelly “couldn’t hear” what the UFC fighter was trying to say to him on the red carpet, followed by the musician’s security “pushing” McGregor when he tried to get close.
