Conor McGregor mocked for claiming Khabib Nurmagomedov has "zero power"
MMA fans have been quick to hit back at Conor McGregor following the UFC star’s attempt to downplay the achievements of rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The Russian fighter, who recently confirmed his retirement with an unbeaten 29-0 record, has a long and bitter history with McGregor and took to Twitter to have his say on Nurmagomedov’s legacy.
Former lightweight and featherweight champion McGregor attempted to taunt his rival for an apparent lack of strength by pointing out how few of the 32-year-old’s victories came by knockout.
Adopting more of a wrestling style, Nurmagomedov tends to wear out his opponents, winning eleven of his bouts by way of submission – including against McGregor in their bad-tempered 2018 battle.
However, with 19 of his own 22 wins coming by knockout, hard-hitter McGregor chose to lord this statistic over his adversary, implying a weakness in his game.
The controversial fighter tweeted: “8ko/tko across 30 fights = zero power. Don’t forget it Teddy Bear”
However, fight fans were not impressed with the attempted goading and were quick to remind McGregor that Nurmagomedov actually dropped him when the two faced off in the Octagon.
During the third round of their Las Vegas brawl at UFC 229, Nurmagomedov landed a right hook to the jaw of McGregor, sending his opponent briefly sprawling on the canvas.
The Irishman was soon back on his feet but the strike merely highlighted Nurmagomedov’s dominance of the fight as he would submit McGregor with a neck crank in the very next round.
McGregor’s twitter mentions have been bombarded with people mocking his claim about the Russian’s supposed lack of power.

The two fighters had been engaged in a bitter feud for months leading up to the fight, trading insults back and forth across social media and at UFC events.
Things came to a head in April 2018 when McGregor attacked a bus containing Nurmagomedov and other UFC fighters by throwing a dolly truck through the windscreen.
Following the Russian’s victory six months later, a brawl involving both corners ensued, leading to the fighters facing bans and issued with huge fines.
The war of words has continued but any hopes of a rematch were quashed with UFC President Dana White confirming that Nurmagomedov was “100% retired”.
