Tim Tebow invited to New York Mets spring training camp for fifth straight year
The New York Mets announced their non-roster invitees to spring training on Saturday, and yes, Tim Tebow is once again on the list.
The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner has been invited to the Mets' major league camp in each of the past four years. He has combined to hit .151 in 34 games, including a home run last spring before camps were closed.
Tebow, 33, didn't play last season because the pandemic wiped out the minor league season. In 2019, he batted .163 in 77 games in Class AAA before a finger injury ended his season. In 2018, he was having a successful year in Class AA in which he was named an Eastern League All-Star before he fractured his right hamate bone in July. He batted .273 over 84 games.
