Rockies’ Brendan Rodgers hit by pitch in hand, leaves game – The Denver Post
Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers, who’s having a breakout season, was hit by a pitch on his right hand in the sixth inning against the Marlins Saturday night at Coors Field.
The Rockies announced it was a right-hand contusion, adding that Rodger is “day-to-day.”
Rodgers, who in the fifth inning hit a double to extend his career-best hitting streak to 14 games, was hit by a 95 mph pitch thrown by Miami reliever Zach Pop. Rodgers fell to the ground, in obvious pain.
He was examined by head trainer Keith Dugger and was escorted to the dugout.
Rodgers, the third overall pick in the 2015 draft, made his Rockies debut on May 17, 2019, but played in just 25 games before he underwent surgery on his right (throwing) shoulder. He suffered a strained hamstring during this year’s spring training and didn’t begin playing for Colorado until May 21.
He entered Saturday’s game hitting .286 with nine home runs and 28 RBIs.
