CHSAA state track meet’s Day 2 postponed due to inclement weather

After a couple weeks of nice May weather, Mother Nature decided to step in and interfere with CHSAA’s spring championships.

Day 2 of the state track and field meet at Jeffco Stadium is postponed due to inclement weather. A cold front moved in on the metro area on Thursday night, leading to CHSAA’s decision on early Friday morning to postpone the meet.

CHSAA said the meet is “postponed due to the weather conditions and in the interest of the athletes’ safety.” With snow in the forecast for the next couple days, CHSAA will now attempt to resume the meet midday on Saturday and finish it on Sunday.

If the weather is still an issue on Saturday afternoon, the meet will be pushed to Sunday and Monday.

The association already moved the lacrosse playoffs scheduled for Saturday to early next week, and baseball regionals could also be moved to Sunday/early next week, though no official announcement for that sport has been made.
