Top jockey Nash Rawiller has declared Yao Dash ready to go for Magic Millions day after an impressive win at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Nash Rawiller declared Yao Dash had got his mojo back as the galloper burst back into the winner’s club and earned himself a shot at a $1million race on Magic Millions day.
Yao Dash’s dominant win in the male division of the Magic Millions Rising Stars Class Four Plate (1300m) was the first time the gelded son of Smart Missile has won since his first two races in August and September 2019.
Those successive wins in 2019 gave him a shot at the Group 1 Golden Rose where he finished fourth behind the brilliant Bivouac.
Yao Dash has never quite bridged the gap between potential and performance but it could now be starting to happen at an opportune time.
Yao Dash, who put another smile on the faces of trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott after they earlier qualified two-year-old filly Swift Witness for next Saturday’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic, put his rivals to the sword and showed a dazzling turn of foot on Saturday.
Bott confirmed he will back-up in next Saturday’s $1million Magic Millions Cup (1400m) on what is already shaping as a bumper day for Tulloch Lodge.
Jockey Rawiller said: “This horse has got his mojo back again.”
“He has always been a nice horse, he just went through a bit of a stage there where he had no confidence whatsoever.”
Bott said the stable had never lost faith in Yao Dash but it was pleasing to see him show what he could do with a strong two-length win.
“He can be a little bit of a thinker at times,” Bott said.
“But Nash gave him a nice ride where he was able to always keep him interested and with some leaders there to chase, he let down strong.”
Yao Dash started as the $2.60 favourite while his main rival in betting, Victorian visitor The Astrologist, was unplaced in fourth.
