The Derby Festival at Epsom takes on Cazoo as new sponsor

The Derby Festival has a brand new sponsor in the form of car retailer Cazoo.

The multi-year partnership gives them exclusive naming rights for the eight races during the Cazoo Derby Festival, taking place on June 4 and June 5 this summer.

Racing fans who also follow football will know the brand already has a big presence within the Premier League.

Aston Villa and Everton both have the UK’s leading online car retailer as their shirt sponsor.

And the move into horse racing’s pinnacle event for June will offer them even more brand exposure.

The world’s most famous Flat race takes place at The Derby Festival, which will be broadcast on ITV.

The Cazoo Oaks also takes place on day one at Epsom Downs Racecourse, ahead of The Cazoo Derby on the Saturday.

Cazoo’s agreement was struck with The Jockey Club, who have 15 racecourses across the UK.

Nevin Truesdale, Chief Executive of The Jockey Club, said: “Cazoo is a highly ambitious and successful growth brand that matches our ambitions for the future of the world’s most famous Flat race.

“You cannot overstate the importance of The Cazoo Derby to our sport globally and it’s vital we work with a partner passionate about bringing that to life in the years ahead. I’m delighted to welcome the Cazoo team to The Jockey Club and horseracing as a sport.”

Alex Chesterman OBE, Founder and CEO of Cazoo, added: “We’re delighted to be sponsoring The Cazoo Derby Festival, one of the biggest events in horseracing.

“As the second biggest spectator sport in Britain, we look forward to engaging with racing fans around the country through this extensive partnership with The Jockey Club and to delivering the best car buying experience to horseracing fans across the country.”
