RANDWICK

Track: Soft 7. Rail: +3m

RACE 1 2YO HANDICAP (1200M)

Overview: Looks a nice race for Verne and he was the only horse to park wide and win at Warwick Farm last start. He has upside here. Huriwai looks the one at big odds that can improve sharply. He is hard to find on his figure on debut but he had to go right back to last from the draw and was held up in the straight. He found the line well when clear and should appreciate 1200m. Park Avenue, Bitcoin Baby and Sacred Field all have claims.

BETTING ADVICE: Verne to win and something on Huriwai too.

RACE 2 TAB HIGHWAY (1500M)

Overview: Open TAB Highway. Tipping Point should find conditions to suit and he has been finding the line well this prep. Mr Wong can be hard to catch but he has a big finish on his day. The lack of tempo beat Casino Kid last start and she should be strong late here. Sharlie looks over the odds off the big last start win. She has always shown ability but can mix her form a bit, while Charvet is flying and just needs to run out the extra trip. Roman comes right into play if he gets a run and it’s a heavy track.

BETTING ADVICE: Casino Kid as good a chance as any of these but some at odds mentioned above can figure as well.

RACE 3 BENCHMARK 78 (1000M)

Overview: Good little race. Ice In Vancouver was saved from the Highway for this and she should come across to park outside the lead and should be hard to catch with the light weight. Dr Grawin was too bad to be true fresh and she loves the 1000m at Randwick and enjoys wet ground. Dickin Medal pulled up with a genuine excuse last start and he comes through some really good races last prep. He also gets the blinkers back on and he has raced best with them in the past.

BETTING ADVICE: Ice In Vancouver to win.

RACE 4 BENCHMARK 78 (1200M)

Overview: Gravina could not have been more impressive last start and if he turns up like that again, they won’t get near him. It’s unlikely he will run up to that mark again mind you but he doesn’t have to. He comes through a strong form race prior at Scone and I just have a feeling he is going to love the wet ground. Belluci Babe was outstanding last start and she got too far back in the run. She is going really well and just has to take that 1100m form to 1200m. Steel Diamond is the interesting runner. She is now with Chris Waller, handles wet ground and has trialled well.

BETTING ADVICE: Gravina to win.

RACE 5 DRINKWISE MILE (1600M)

Overview: I think the market has it pretty right with two main hopes in Zing and La Chevalee. They’re both coming off strong last start efforts in decent figures and should get through wet ground. The back-up should suit a horse like Zing. Snippy Fox is always capable in a race like this, while Buba did SP $7 first-up when too bad to be true and can improve sharply.

BETTING ADVICE: Not much between Zing and La Chevalee.

RACE 6 OPEN HANDICAP (1600M)

Overview: Intriguing race this with two main chances in Kirwan’s Lane and Brutality. It will probably come down to the weather and the wetter it is, the more it suits Brutality. Kirwan’s Lane was simply outstanding last start and he is a really progressive horse for the John O’Shea yard. He just doesn’t want it too wet. Opacity looms as the big improver and his figures on wet ground at Randwick are outstanding, while Order Again (luckless last start) and Royal Celebration have claims too.

BETTING ADVICE: Kirwan’s Lane on soft ground, Brutality on heavy ground.

RACE 7 BOB CHARLEY AO STAKES (1100M)

Overview: Good little sprint. Back to 1100m was the key for Adelong last start but gee she was impressive. She stays at 1100m here and gets through wet ground. Ballistic Lover was outstanding last start and she burnt the candle at both ends and ran good figures. This is tougher naturally. Fituese can bounce back after the disappointing fresh run, while Wandabaa is a swimmer and should love the conditions.

BETTING ADVICE: Ballistic Lover to win.

RACE 8 BENCHMARK 94 (1300M)

Overview: Tricky race. Dream Circle got the job done for us last start and he is a horse in good form. It’s a sharp jump from a benchmark 78 to 94 all the same. Enchanted Heart is a good wet tracker and I think she is looking for this extra ground. I’m expecting a better run from Holyfield and he can own this race from the front and has some decent wet figures. True Detective and Grand Piano are both capable as well and the chances don’t end there.

BETTING ADVICE: Enchanted Heart at odds.

RACE 9 BENCHMARK 78 (1400M)

Overview: Two main hopes for mine in Blondeau and Canasta. Blondeau was outstanding fresh and even his second-up run was full of merit. He had to chase a long way out there but should be better suited here. Canasta is the danger and he has just gone to a whole new level second-up in his past two preps. He has some decent figures on wet ground too. Invinciano also has a decent second-up profile but I just worry about her if the track is in the heavy range.

BETTING ADVICE: Blondeau to win.
