Racing Queensland reshuffle calendar due to heavy rain
Racing Queensland has been forced to reshuffle its calendar due to consistent heavy rain affecting the south-eastern part of the Sunshine State.
Up to 16mm of rain has fallen in Brisbane since 9am on Tuesday morning with another 35 to 60mm forecast for the rest of the day.
A total of 88mm has fallen in the past 24 hours at Ipswich and 220mm in the past seven days.
Beaudesert’s eight-race card scheduled for Tuesday has been postponed and rescheduled for Thursday, April 1, while Ipswich’s Wednesday meeting will now be run on Friday.
The Ipswich track is currently rated a Heavy 10.
Warwick’s meeting on Friday has also been postponed and is now pencilled in to be run next Tuesday, April 30.
Both Doomben and Gold Coast, which are set to each host a nine-race card on Saturday, are both rated as Heavy 10 surfaces but that is expected to be upgraded with sunny weather forecast from Thursday onwards.
The Bureau Of Meteorology expects the weather to be 28 degrees and higher from Thursday with little chance of rain during the upcoming seven day period, giving both tracks plenty of time in the sun.
