Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Pakenham Synthetic on Tuesday

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Tuesday’s card on the Pakenham Synthetic track.

BEST BET

BLOOD SWEAT TEARS (Race 7 No. 1 – $3)

Blood Sweat Tears resumes at Benchmark 58 level after two solid efforts in harder races in the autumn. He went well in an Avoca jumpout leading up to this and should be hard to run down.

NEXT BEST

SHEZA SNIPER (Race 4 No. 4 – $3.80)

Sheza Sniper is on trial at 2200m but she looks ready for the extra trip following her excellent effort over 1600m on this track second-up. She’ll be fitter and should get the perfect run from barrier one.

TOORAK WARRIOR (Race 6 No. 4 – $5)

Toorak Warrior has been freshened for Tuesday’s race after racing soundly in Benchmark 64 grade through the autumn. He races well on the track and won’t be far away.

PORT ROYAL (Race 8 No. 1 – $5)

His stablemate Chief Altony was stiff not to win at Flemington on Saturday but Port Royal can give the Alexander Rae team something to cheer about in the last on Tuesday. He’s down in grade and will be running on hard at the end of the race.

VALUE BET

WILD CHARLOTTE (Race 5 No. 9 – $23)

Wild Charlotte was outgunned in wet ground at Warrnambool but has changed stables since that outing. Her best form is on good ground, she drops in class on Tuesday and can improve sharply.

THE JOCKEY

BEN ALLEN

Only Jamie Mott has ridden more winners than Ben Allen on the Pakenham Synthetic track this season. Allen has four rides on Tuesday. HELEVA DEEL (Race 1 No. 8 – $2.70), STARMANIA (Race 3 No. 13 – $41), SHEZA SNIPER (Race 4 No. 4 – $3.80) and HIT THE RIM (Race 6 No. 13 – $6.50).

THE WEEK AHEAD

This week’s Wednesday meeting will be held at Sale. Ballarat races again on the turf track on Thursday before the start of the famous Swan Hill carnival on Friday. The Sandown Hillside track will be the scene of next Saturday’s Melbourne metro meeting while Swan Hill races again on Saturday and Sunday. Edenhope also races on Sunday.
