Raceday focus: Best bets, analysis for Moe on Wednesday

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Wednesday’s card at Moe, which has been transferred from Cranbourne.

BEST BET

FACEMASK (R5 No.4 – $4)

Facemask was scratched from a race over the weekend to be saved for this and the Peter Moody-trained gelding finds himself in a winnable assignment. He likes wet ground and racing near the pace will suit.

NEXT BEST

SANDY PRINCE (R1 No.5 – $2)

Sandy Prince bumped into the handy The Garden when resuming at Geelong and will only be fitter for this. He’s drawn to get every chance from barrier three.

SECRET PALACE (R4 No.5 – $3.30)

Secret Palace led and tried hard at Sandown last time and those tactics should serve her well at Cranbourne. Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Jye McNeil should give Secret Palace the perfect run.

VALUE BET

YULONG KNIGHT (R7 No.4 – $14)

Yulong Knight is in a tricky race on Wednesday but he’s a decent each-way chance at good odds. He’s hard fit to tackle another wet track and should be thereabouts yet again.

THE JOCKEY

CRAIG WILLIAMS

Craig Williams has four good rides at Wednesday’s meeting.

SANDY PRINCE (R1 No.5 – $2), BEWITCHINGLY (R2 No.13 – $2.40), CAFFREY (R6 No. 3 – $3), PLEASE SIR (R7 No.5 – $3.10).

THE WEEK AHEAD

Racing heads to Warrnambool on Thursday for eight flat races before returning to the synthetic at Ballarat on Friday. The Aurie’s Star Handicap will headline Saturday’s Flemington card while the Moe will be the scene of the day’s provincial meeting. Bendigo and Casterton will hold Sunday’s Victorian race meetings.
