Queensland awaits Scone Cup winner Laure Me In
Warwick Farm trainer David Pfieffer and Rachel King capped a day to remember when Laure Me In scored a strong win in the $200,000 Listed Darley Scone Cup (1600m) on Friday.
Pfieffer won two of the three $200,000 races, also claiming the Inglis 2YO Guineas while King was also successful aboard Rocha Clock in the third of the feature races – the Dark Jewel Classic.
Earlier this week Pfieffer told Racenet Laure Me In “has a good Cup race in him” and the six-year-old gelding produced a superior turn of foot to deliver in style.
“He travelled super,” King told Sky Racing.
“I had to go back a little further than I wanted to, but he got into a beautiful rhythm and we tracked up really nicely around the turn.
“He was very strong late.
“That’s the first time I’ve sat on him so all credit to Dave and the team.”

Laure Me In ($6) defeated another Warwick Farm-based galloper Looks Like Elvis ($21) from the Jarrod Austin yard by three-quarters of a length with the Chris Waller-trained Order Again ($9.50) a head back in third.
The $5.50 favourite Royal Celebration over raced in the lead before weakening to finish seventh.
The win was Laure Me in’s seventh from 35 starts, his first in black-type grade and took his career earnings to more than $540,000.

Pfieffer said Laure Me In is now likely to head to Brisbane with some rich features in the coming weeks.
“On Saturday fortnight the Lord Mayor’s Cup is on at Eagle Farm over 1800 metres and that looks an ideal progression,” he said.
“If he was to run well in that there is an ambitious race a fortnight later but we’ll see what happens between now and then.”
The ‘ambitious race’ is the Q22, a Group 2 weight-for-age race formerly known as the PJ O‘Shea Stakes. The 2200m event is worth $1.2 million this year.
