Young AFL fan provides best moment of the weekend

A young Sydney Swans supporter in the crowd at the SCG has provided the wholesome content we all needed this weekend.

After Sydney’s Isaac Heeney booted a goal into the crowd, the camera panned to the Swans fan who held the ball close to her chest.

After cradling it for a few seconds, her mother whipped out a phone to capture the special moment.

The young girl was beaming from ear to ear, almost treating the ball like a newborn.

Unfortunately, the girl’s fun was stopped prematurely.

A man next to her ripped the Sherrin from her grasp and hurl it back onto the field, in a timely reminder that it’s not quite like baseball where you get to keep a home run ball.

However, the girl will no doubt be telling everyone about her special moment at the game.

If people don’t believe her, at least she’ll have the photos to prove it.

While getting a photo with a match ball brought a smile to everyone’s faces, she’d no doubt be even happier with the result.

The Swans’ Lance Franklin kicked three as the red and white’s emerged as the stronger of the two sides with a 15.10 (100) – 11.12 (78) victory.

In a game full of momentum swings and with the game delicately poised at three-quarter time, the Swans surged ahead with a 4.4 to 1.3 final-term as they outworked the visitors late in the contest.

Isaac Heeney put on a match-winning performance accumulating 21 disposals along with three goals while Harry Cunningham (27 disposals, ten marks) was superb in defence.

Patrick Cripps (27 disposals, three goals) had his best-performance of the season and was well-supported by Sam Walsh (33 disposals) – but it wasn’t enough for the Blues who fell to 4-7.

Sydney kicked an accumulative total of 8.4 to 0.3 during red-time which ultimately played a telling role in the Swans running away with all four-points.
