Pour-your-own pint tech at Cheltenham gets punters a pint in 20 seconds
The Daily Star was off to a flier at this year's Cheltenham festival – by pouring its first pint of Guinness.
We were invited to try out new DIY drinks dispensers installed at the famous course to cut bar queues. The pull-your-own-pint pumps in the Cottage Rake Bar knock out a perfect frothing ale in 19.5 seconds – allowing drinkers to get their hands on three-a-minute.
Yours truly agreed to test the Irish water by pouring the race fest's maiden pint of stout. The system works like a petrol pump.

You choose your fuel – Guinness or lager – swipe your card and then pull on the pump to get your drink. It even remembers your card details so can pay for multiple pints then pour them throughout the day.
Greg Buck, UK installer leader for Drink Command which makes the machines, said they are set top revolutionise bars at major events across Britain. "They serve more pints quicker which is good news for everyone," he said.

"You do still need bar staff to assist customers but it changes their role. They can be on the same side of the bar as the customer and have more time to chat to them than if they were busy pouring drinks.
"It's a better experience all round." Simon Hanna, Jockey Club Catering’s regional Director for Cheltenham and the South West, said the pumps were "reducing the queuing time".
"For anyone using these taps for the first time we still have experienced and skilled team members in the bar to help them," he added. It is expected the pumps will pour £20,000 worth of Guinness every day throughout the festival.
Revellers are expected to sup up to 300,000 pints of the Irish stout during the four-day bash.
