Perfect Power performance delights trainer Richard Fahey after taking impressive victory at the Group One Morny at Deauville
- Perfect Power impressively took victory in the Group One Prix Morny
- It got tight with runner-up Trident before Perfect Power pulled away at the end
- Perfect Power is now favourite to win the Group One Middle Park Stakes
Trainer Richard Fahey believes Perfect Power has gone to the top of the two-year-old rankings after a withering run to win a red-hot Group One Prix Morny at Deauville.
It got tight with a quarter of a mile to go when Perfect Power went for the same strip of ground as Andre Fabre-trained runner-up Trident but when Christophe Soumillon got a clear run on the 3-1 winner he pulled away for a length-and-a-quarter victory.
Perfect Power is now 4-1 favourite for the Group One Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on September 25 and a 25-1 shot for next year’s 2,000 Guineas.
Trainer Richard Fahey was delighted with Perfect Power’s victory at Deauville on Sunday
Perfect Power won the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot before finishing fifth in the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood when looking very unlucky in running.
Behind Perfect Power were Richmond Stakes winner Asymmetric (third), Molecomb Stakes winner Armor (fourth) with Richmond Stakes third Gubbass in fifth.
Fahey said: ‘Christophe gave him a very confident ride. It got tight for two strides or so but he came through.

‘We’ll stick to six furlongs at the moment as we’ve no need to change but I’d say he has every chance of staying the mile next year.’
Hopes of more British Group One Deauville success were narrowly dashed when James Fanshawe’s Audarya missed out on repeating her 2020 Prix Jean Romanet win by a short-head from Grand Glory.
William Jarvis-trained Lady Bowthorpe never threatened as she beat only one of the eight starters.
