Peltzer joins Twin Hills stallion line-up after being retired to stud

Sydney trainers Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou have lost of their stable’s most talented gallopers to the breeding barn with Group 2-winning colt Peltzer retired.

The son of So You Think will stand for a fee of $16,500 including GST at Twin Hills Stud for the 2021 breeding season.

Peltzer won the Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes back in February but failed to match that performance in four subsequent runs in the autumn.

He finished at the rear of the field in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes in April, which proved to be the last run of his racing career.

Peltzer had been unbeaten in three runs as a two-year-old as well as adding a Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes and $1 million Bondi Stakes to his resume as a three-year-old last spring.

“He had immense talent,” Ryan said.

“I’ve only had four horses break 30s from the 1500m to the 1000m where I clock them from.

“The first was Snitzel, then Snitzerland, next was Rubick and this colt, Peltzer. It’s why I will always have a huge opinion of this horse.’’

Twin Hills already have Denman, Hallowed Crown, Odyssey Moon and Smart Missile on their stallion roster.

Twin Hills Stud owner Olly Tait was pleased to add Peltzer to that list.

“He has quality, strength and scope. Just lovely,” he said.

“He was a top sprinter, with the class to get a mile.

“Furthermore, he was unbeaten in three starts as a two year old. So, he’s by a great stallion but came to hand earlier and was faster than his pedigree suggested.

“ A bit like Zabeel or Toronado. It’s an excellent sign in a stallion prospect”.

Peltzer was a $260,000 yearling purchase at Magic Millions Gold Coast in 2019.
