Murtoa racing tips: With six rides for Patrick Payne it could pay to follow Billy Egan on Monday

Eight races at Murtoa on Monday and Billy Egan combines with Patrick Payne in the first six events on the program, and five are favourites.

MURTOA

BEST BET

CHADSTONE

R3 No. 3 $2.40

Tricky draw but the three-year-old gelding out of Born To Shop should be too smart for these. Debuted at Edenhope over 1450 and savaged the line to run fourth. Extra distance and blinkers off helps.

NEXT BEST

MULGA LIL

R5 No. 6 $4.40

Mare in form. Has won two of the past four starts and found only one better at Warracknabeal last start.

YULONG IMPACT

R7 No. 1 $3.30

Forget the Real Impact colt went around at Sale, racing wide and between horses on a bog track. Rider basically pulled up entering the straight. Win at Moe prior and debut second at Mornington good enough to be winning at Murtoa.

VALUE BET

ALLURING GRACE

R6 No. 3 $17

Lightly-raced I Am Invincible filly ran third at silly odds first-up last preparation. Won second-up then struggled at Pakenham in January. Given time.

TRAFFIC COP

R8 No. 17 $10

Last win October 2019 but been around the mark past two starts – beaten less than 1.4 lengths. Drawn better than some of the more fancied chances in the race. Could sneak a place.

THE JOCKEY

BILLY EGAN

Too many strong rides for trainer Patrick Payne not to be fighting out the finish all day at Murtoa.

What A Sham (R1 No. 12 $3.90), MADETOBEBROKEN (R2 No. 2 $2.50), Chadstone (R3. No. 3 $2.40), Decurio (R4 No. 2 $1.80), SCRIBA (R5 No. 9 $19), GAGA‘S BELLE (R6 No. 4 $3.90) and ADKI (R7 No. 3 $23).
