Brisbane lockdown ends, Eagle Farm to be open to patrons on Saturday

Brisbane Racing Club CEO Tony Partridge has declared Eagle Farm “open for business” on Saturday after Queensland’s capital came out of its snap lockdown on Thursday.

Patrons will be allowed at the races on Saturday under conditions, with racegoers to wear masks indoors and also outdoors if they cannot socially distance.

Only essential racing staff will be permitted in key areas and they must wear masks outdoors, including jockeys except while they are competing in races.

With the lifting of Brisbane's lockdown, @racing_qld has confirmed patrons can attend race meetings, so the BRC looks forward to welcoming you to Eagle Farm (Saturday) and Doomben (Monday) over Easter, in accordance with our Covid Safe Plan and all government directions.

“We are open for business,” Partridge said.

“We are expecting lots of people at Eagle Farm that have had to cancel their trips and instead will enjoy a day at the races.”

The good news also impacts Doomben’s Easter Monday meeting which can now throw its gates open to fans on the public holiday.

Easter plans had been thrown into jeopardy by Queensland’s COVID-19 lockdown earlier this week but it was lifted on Thursday at noon.
