Tiger Woods’ ex girlfriend Lindsey Vonn has reacted to news of his serious car crash on social media. News broke on Tuesday that Woods had been involved in a car accident with no other vehicles involved.

Woods’ car is said to have rolled over multiple times with paramedic and emergency services needing to use the ‘jaws of life’ to extradite him from the vehicle.

The golf icon’s agent, Mark Steinberg, later announced that Woods was immediately rushed off to hospital to undergo surgery on “multiple leg injuries”.

“Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries,” he said.

“He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support.”

And Winter Olympian Vonn, who dated Woods for three years before they split in 2015, has given her reaction to the accident.

“Praying for TW right now,” she tweeted.

Vonn and Woods have remained good friends since their split six years ago, with Vonn admitting in 2018 that the pair still speak.

She said: “I support him. We’re friends, we congratulate each other … it’s really nice to see him playing so well again.”

After news of Woods’ car crash quickly spread across social media, his fellow professionals and other athletes took to social media to offer their thoughts and prayers.

Bryson DeChambeau tweeted: “Heartbroken and shocked to hear about @TigerWoods accident today. My thoughts and prayers are with him for a full recovery.”

England’s Justin Rose wrote: “@tigerwoods, just seen the awful news. We know how tough you are, we’ve seen it a hundred times. Hoping and praying you’re ok my friend.”

Ian Poulter said: “Thoughts are with @TigerWoods and others involved, wishing a speedy recovery and I hope the injuries are not bad.”

But the most emotional reaction came from Justin Thomas, who was speaking ahead of the World Golf Championships-Workday Championship at The Concession.

The 27-year-old was visibly shaken by the news, saying he was “sick to his stomach”.

“It hurts to see one of my closest friends get in an accident and man I just hope he’s alright,” Thomas said.

“I just worry for his kids, I’m sure they’re struggling.”
