Jordan Ablett posts new photos of son Levi after year from hell
Jordan Ablett has released never seen before photos of her son Levi’s heartbreaking year at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne.
The wife of Geelong legend Gary Ablett last year went public with her year from hell where the family of three were rocked by the death of Jordan’s mother, Trudy — and their son’s diagnosis with a rare and degenerative disease.
Her decision to reveal further details of the family’s private life this week came as she revealed to her 54,000 followers on Instagram that she has signed up to be an ambassador for the Royal Children’s Hospital’s Good Friday Appeal.

Levi, 2, has been treated at the hospital ever since he was diagnosed in July.
Jordan also signed on as an ambassador for My Room, an Australian charity which focuses on children’s cancer, last year.

She revealed her emotional connection to the appeal in a lengthy Instagram post Wednesday.
“I’m so honoured to be working with the Good Friday Appeal as an Ambassador in their momentous 90th year of giving for the kids,’’ Jordan wrote on Instagram.
“My family and I have experienced first hand how important the @goodfridayappeal is to ensuring @rchmelbourne can continue to provide world class care to our beautiful children.
“Having seen Levi be cared for and loved on by such incredible doctors, nurses and hospital staff, this Appeal holds an extra special place in my heart.”
She earlier posted an emotional message about how much joy there has been among the incredible hardship over the past 12 months.
“He (Levi) is so precious and still just as smiley and determined as ever,” Jordan said.
“I truly love being his mother.
“We’re taking his health one day at a time and just really enjoying him and parenthood.
“Ultimately, our focus is family.

“Investing in one another and our little man is and always will be our number one priority.
“We don’t ever want to hide his light from the world but instead, we want to allow him to shine brightly in the hope that someone else’s life will (through him) become much brighter.”
It came after Jordan spoke bravely about her struggles as her husband left the family’s home last year to enter the AFL’s isolation bubble in Queensland to complete the 2020 AFL season.
With Ablett playing his 357th and final game in the grand final Geelong lost to Richmond, she posted about things much more important than football.
Jordan’s mother Trudy was also battling lung cancer at the time, and tragically died in August.
“It was really, really hard. Because the diagnosis came when Mum was towards the end of her journey … we just had a lot of things happen all at once,” Jordan said on Channel 9.
“So yeah, we are in this together and it is what it is. And yeah, we are just taking it day by day.

“He’s doing well. He does have his challenges that we as a family are facing on a day-to-day basis,” Jordan said.
“But in saying that he’s so determined, and like you said, he’s just so smiley and has such a joy for life.”
It came just weeks after she revealed how it was at times all too much, juggling her son and the heartbreak of her personal grief.
She opened up in a lengthy post on Instagram to pass on the lessons she’s learned and say thank you to the football and wider community for their support.
“I’ve been wanting to post this for a long time. Honestly, life has felt so full-on for me (and us all) that I just haven’t had an opportunity, or sometimes the strength, to put something together to share with you,” Jordan wrote.

“As we can all agree, this year has been so difficult for all of us in many and unique ways. For me personally, watching my mum live her final months at home under Stage 3 and then 4 Covid restrictions, preventing her from those ‘lasts’ with those she loved was really sad.
“Receiving a diagnosis for our son — who, in our eyes, is still so perfect in every way — but knowing that each day will present its challenges and that the future is so unclear and something we simply can’t prepare for (but then again, who can?).
“Then to go on and lose mum (my greatest encourager) is something that will always hurt. Words simply can’t express what I feel each day as I navigate these unique and difficult circumstances. But in all of this, I find there are still so many things to be grateful for.”
She will be celebrating those things during this year’s appeal.
