England fans spot Bairstow and Buttler moment during Australia hammering

England completed a dominant eight-wicket win over arch-rivals Australia at the T20 World Cup, with an explosive batting display backing up an excellent bowling performance.

After limiting Australia to just 125 from their 20 overs, England chased down their target at a canter with Jos Buttler, Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow producing some brutal hitting.

And England fans noticed a cheeky moment between Bairstow and Buttler as they bludgeoned their way closer to a memorable win.

During the 11th over of England's innings, Buttler greeted leg spinner Adam Zampa by skipping down the track and hitting him back over his head for six.

In the same over, Bairstow launched back-to-back sixes and promptly winked at Buttler.

Reacting on Twitter, England World Cup winner Alex Hartley wrote: "Now Bairstow getting involved!! Did he just hit a 6 and wink at Buttler?"

Fellow women's cricketer Sophie Luff tweeted: "Not sure what I preferred more, those consecutive sixes from Bairstow or the wink that he gave Buttler after"

"Lovely little wink from Bairstow after his 6," added one supporter.

Speaking after the win, England captain Eoin Morgan said: "The challenge for us is always adapting to conditions but we did that really well in the first two games and again today.

"We held our nerve with the ball, creating opportunities and the bowlers again came up trumps. I think depending on how the wicket plays, you have to have one or two guys to go to.

"The openers looked in really good form – they’re two really imposing players. Jason Roy against Bangladesh and then coming out again with intent and Jos Buttler following suit and kicking on from there.

"We treat everybody with the same respect, it’s a really tough competition and we go to Sharjah next against Sri Lanka, it’s one we’re looking forward to."
